The Clinical Utility of Thal1ium2O1 Myocardial Perfusion Scintigraphy - A ReviewAbstract
INTRODUCTION:
With the recent introduction of Thallium-201 Myocardial Perfusion Scintigraphy (Tl-201 MPS) in a few centuries in Pakistan, an additional noninvasive technique has become available for the assessment of certain parameters in patients with cardiac disorders.A short description of the biokinetics of Thallium-201 and a brief review of the various clinical application of T1-201 MPS resorted in recent literature is presented.
CONCLUSION:
Modern medical science is a continuously years evolving discipline. In recent years T1-201 MPS has also been subjected to many advances. New techniques both for data acquisition and data analysis have been developed. This has resulted in improved sensitivity of Tl-201 MPS for detecting coronary artery lesions and further enhanced the clinical utility of this valuable diagnostic technique.
